The Planning Board's role is to guide the orderly growth and development of the County through the approval of development plans, as well as recommendations to the County Council and Zoning Board on all matters relating to planning and zoning, including the County's General Development Plan, zoning map amendments and zoning regulation amendments.
Please note the deadline for registration for virtual participation is 1 business day, no later than 7:00 pm, before the scheduled meeting.

The Task Force evaluated present New Town regulations, found in Section 125 of the Howard County Zoning Code, and developed recommendations for improving the New Town zoning model that governs land use in much of the master-planned community of Columbia. The task force’s findings and final recommendations can be found on the New Town Task Force website.
Board Information
The Planning Board typically meets the first and third Thursday of each month beginning at 7:00 pm in the Banneker Room of the George Howard Building (3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043). Alternative dates may be scheduled at the discretion of the Board. Meeting agendas and all supplemental materials are posted to the Planning Board website two (2) weeks in advance of the meeting date.
