  • Outdoor camps, programs & tournaments may resume at 100% capacity without restrictions. 
  • Indoor camps & programs may resume at 100% capacity.
  • Face coverings are not required indoors or outdoors.
    • Exception: All instructors and participants 5 years & older are required to wear a face covering when participating in an indoor youth camp, class or childcare program.
    • The Department recommends that those not vaccinated continue to wear a face covering.

  • Masks are no longer required outdoors or indoors at our county-run parks & facilities.

  • Indoor facilities are open at 100% capacity. 
    • Exceptions: Belmont Manor & Historic Park, Waverly Mansion, and Kiwanis-Wallas Hall are open by appointment only.
    • Exception: HCRP Headquarters is closed.
  • Restrictions have also been lifted and are at 100% capacity:
    • The Roger Carter Community Center Pool
    • The Worthington Dog Park 
    • Pavilions
    • Outdoor bleachers
    • Dugouts & bleachers at parks
  • Outdoor water fountains will be turned once facilities has time to do so.
  • Kayaks, paddleboats, and canoe rentals at Centennial Park will remain closed for 2021.

June 27 | Mornin' Bite Fishing at Centennial Park South (All ages)
Come out early to fish Centennial Lake before the sun comes up! Anglers may fish from shore or bring your own boat to this Howard County Recreation & Parks event (normal Centennial Lake boating and fishing regulations apply). Although you must check in / register / pay on site; please RSVP so that we may contact you if there is inclement weather and we can plan accordingly.

July 4 | Fireworks (All Ages)
Howard County Recreation & Parks will hold our annual July 4th fireworks display at the Lakefront at Columbia, beginning at 9:20pm on July 4, 2021. We ask that spectators wait until after 3pm on the afternoon of July 4 to lay down any blankets so as to preserve the grass. Free public parking for this event will be located at the Mall in Columbia and by the Columbia Lakefront, adjacent to Whole Foods. Please note that the Little Patuxent Parkway may close around 7 PM due to expected high traffic volume from this event.

Content

Howard County Recreation & Parks is recognized through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). The Department met 144 standards encompassing all operations contained in leisure services. These professional standards serve as an aid for improving performance and maintaining quality. They provide park and recreation agencies with an ability to evaluate their operation, while achieving and maintaining a level of efficiency and effectiveness. The Department is one of only 102 accredited agencies in the United States.
