Birth certificates are issued on a walk-in basis during the following days/hours:
Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m - 3:30 p.m
To receive a birth certificate:
- You must present a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo identification. The identification must have a date issued and an expiration date.
- If you have an expired government-issued identification, you must contact the State's Division of Vital Records at 410-764-3038 to obtain a birth certificate.
- Birth Certificates cost $25.00 - Cash, Credit Card (Visa, Discover, Mastercard)
- Check or money order should be made payable to: Director of Finance.
- For a child's birth certificate, only parents or legal guardians (must provide proof of guardianship) may obtain a child's birth certificate.
- For an adult's birth certificate, only the person named on the certificate, or his/her parents may apply.
- Any corrections or changes needed on a birth certificate (e.g., adding a name, changing the spelling of a name, etc.) must be made at the State Vital Records office (6764 Reisterstown Rd., Baltimore, MD 21215). These changes cannot be made by local health departments.
- Applicants must have been born in Maryland after 1939.

There is a charge of $30.00 for the first death certificate and $20.00 for each additional copy.
