Report a Health Concern
We often find out about health or safety issues when someone from the community contacts our Community Hygiene Program. When we get a report about something that seems unhealthy or unsafe, our Health Inspectors will investigate to decide what should be done.
Use this form to report concerns about:
- rodents (mice, rats)
- restaurant, grocery store, or other food facility cleanliness
- noise pollution from commercial buildings
- trash and nuisance properties

Refer to the Howard County Law regarding nuisances* in Howard County Code Title 12.110 Nuisances
A nuisance is any condition or health-related concern that poses an actual or potential threat to health. If a nuisance condition exists, the Health Department may require immediate action be taken to address the issue.

- If you think you got sick from eating spoiled or bad food, contact our Food Protection Program right away at 410-313-1772. If it's after our regular hours, leave a message with your name and phone number and we will call you back as soon as we are back in the office.
- If you use the online form, we'll need your contact details (name, phone number etc.). An inspector might contact you to get more details. We won't reveal who made the complaint while we're investigating. You can also report the problem by calling us at 410-313-1773.
- If your complaint is about an apartment or other rental housing, contact the Howard County Department of Inspections, Licensing, and Permits at rentalhousing@howardcountymd.gov.
