The Howard County Police Department is committed to informing the community and the news media of events within the public domain in a timely manner. The Office of Public Affairs issues news releases, responds to media inquiries, manages social media, and produces a daily crime bulletin.

News releases are issued for significant events and cases. The daily crime bulletin is produced each weekday when county offices are open and includes the initial reporting of various crimes such as robberies, burglaries, assaults, vehicle thefts, and theft from vehicles. It is not inclusive of all police activity in a day.

ARREST: Commercial burglary update
Police have made an arrest in the March 16 commercial burglary of Excel Tree and attempted burglary of Bright View Landscaping on Montevideo Drive in Jessup. A suspect entered the property of Excel Tree Experts by cutting the locks and stole landscaping equipment from sheds and company vehicles. The suspect also attempted to enter BrightView Landscape property by breaking the keypad lock but did not make entry. Through investigation, police identified the suspect and arrested him. 
ARRESTED: Damarco Keyshawn Parker, 22, of Brooks Drive in Washington, D.C., is charged with burglary, attempted burglary, rogue and vagabond, theft, and destruction of property
