Howard County police are investigating a shooting tied to an illegal car rally in Columbia in which one person was killed and five additional victims received non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 5:27 a.m. April 27, police responded to a parking garage in the 6700 block of Alexander Bell Drive for a report of a subject shot. Arriving officers located one adult male deceased. An adult female (original release incorrectly said male) was transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
Over the next several hours, area hospitals reported four walk-in shooting victims believed to be tied to this incident. Their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives believe many of the participants, who were known to each other, were not from Howard County. No additional information is available at this early stage of the investigation.
