Howard County police have charged a Gambrills man with manslaughter after being notified that a man he struck during an altercation Aug. 28 in Savage died days after the incident.
Jaylin James McConnaughey, 32, was initially arrested Aug. 28 and charged with assault after reportedly striking Tevin Jarrett Sesker, 33, of Lanham. The two were known to one another and were in a verbal altercation in the 8800 block of Greenwood Place when McConnaughey struck Sesker, causing him to fall to the ground and strike his head. Sesker was transported to Shock Trauma in critical condition.
Following his arrest, McConnaughey posted $10,000 bond and was released. Police were notified by the hospital Sept. 1 that Sesker had died as a result of his injuries. Detectives added manslaughter to McConnaughey’s charges and took him back into custody Sept. 2 at the police station in Ellicott City. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on no bond.
