Howard County Department of Public Works is composed of the Director's Office, Bureau of Engineering, Bureau of Environmental Services, Bureau of Facilities, Bureau of Highways and Bureau of Utilities.

The Director's Office provides leadership and coordination among the Bureaus to advance the quality of life for our community by providing exceptional level of public service. Employees coordinate the daily functions, customer service, the capital improvement program and real estate services.


DEPARTMENT NEWS

  • There will be special Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) drop-off days at the Alpha Ridge Landfill on Saturday, January 7, February 4 and March 4. Please visit our HHW web page for details about what can be dropped off.
  • The County will beta launch a new cutting-edge snow plow tracker in mid-December.

Christmas - County Government offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday on Monday, December 26, 2016. There will be no trash, recycling, food scrap or yard trim collection and the landfill will be closed. The County's holiday "slide" schedule will be in effect. The Police, Fire and 911 Center remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergency Police matters call 410-313-2200.

January 2
