Howard County Department of Public Works is composed of the Director's Office, Bureau of Engineering, Bureau of Environmental Services, Bureau of Facilities, Bureau of Highways and Bureau of Utilities.

The Director's Office provides leadership and coordination among the Bureaus to advance the quality of life for our community by providing exceptional level of public service. Employees coordinate the daily functions, customer service, the capital improvement program and real estate services.

Centennial Lane Pedestrian and Bicycle Zones Meeting - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane in Ellicott City. Department of Public Works will hold a meeting in the cafeteria to discuss potential alternatives to improve pedestrian and bicycle zones along Centennial Lane between Old Annapolis Road and Frederick Road.

Columbus Day Holiday - County Government offices will be closed in observance of the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, October 10, 2016. Regular trash, recycling, food scrap and yard trim collection is in effect and the landfill will be open. The Police, Fire and 911 Center remain open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergency Police matters call 410-313-2200.
