ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to rehabilitate 150 linear feet of 12-inch sewer pipe that crosses the Little Patuxent River between US 29 and Lake Kittamaqundi in Columbia, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 27th. The project includes replacing the pipe and connecting it to the existing 42-inch interceptor sewer. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early January 2026.
The project is part of the County’s Department of Public Works’ (DPW) ongoing efforts to improve system reliability and hydraulic performance of the sewer in this area, as well as prevent future sewer overflows.
DPW has coordinated this sewer project to run in tandem with the Columbia Association’s (CA) Lake Kittamaqundi dredging project. All signage to alert residents and visitors of the projects, closure of sidewalks and/or pathways, and roads access are managed by CA.
