ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to stabilize the slope along south Court House Drive near Ellicott Mills Drive in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 27th. In addition to stabilizing the slope, the project also includes installing a new traffic barrier along the roadways south side, curb and gutter improvements, roadway paving, and roadway slope correction. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-December 2025.
Signs will be posted to alert motorists and pedestrians of the construction and corresponding lane closure, as the southbound lane near 3580 Court House Drive will be closed and a temporary portable traffic signal will be utilized. Once the southbound lane work is complete and the lane has reopened, the northbound lane near 3580 Court House Drive will then be closed and flagging operations will be in place.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
