ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to perform preventative bridge maintenance on Guilford Road over the Little Patuxent River near Murray Hill Road in Columbia, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, January 26th. The project includes cleaning debris around the south end of the bridge and placing ripraps to stabilize the embankment slope. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early March.

Signs will be posted to alert motorists and residents of the work, as the right shoulder on Murray Hill Road near its intersection with Guilford Road will be closed during normal working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to serve as a staging area for the project.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
