ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to replace the existing 652 linear feet of water main and 32 service connections along Whistling Pines Court in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Monday, January 26th. The project also includes the installation of two new fire hydrants. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late May.

Signs will be posted and flagging operations in place, as temporary lane closures can be expected in the project area during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Specifically, one lane along Whistling Pines Court will be closed from Sunday, February 1st to Friday, April 17th to allow for the installation of the new main and the westbound lane of Old Stockbridge Drive at Whistling Pines Court will be closed for six hours for one day in early February and one day in mid-April.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
