ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Department of Public Works (DPW) Bureau of Environmental Services’ Stormwater Management Division, in coordination with the County’s Department of Recreation & Parks, will hold a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m. at Harper’s Choice Village Center’s Kahler Hall, to discuss a project to stabilize an eroded section of the stream channel in Cedar Lane Park – West near Field 4 in Columbia.
The proposed project could include the installation of upstream stormwater controls and/or the use of stone and vegetation to stabilize the section of eroded stream bank. Currently in the concept design phase, construction is expected to begin in summer 2027 and be completed in spring 2028.
The informal meeting will include an overview of several concept design options followed by an open discussion. County staff and the project’s design consultant will be on hand to answer any questions and gather public comments.
