In response to the COVID-19, we are canceling the Recreation & Parks Advisory Board Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 7PM.  As we move to implementing the county’s recent policy on social distancing to limit exposure, we may need to hold our meeting virtually using Webex/Zoom. If you have the capacity to access the internet, you will be able to connect to our meeting. 
Recreation and Parks Advisory Board

This Advisory Board provides recommendations relating to plans, policies and programs for public recreation, and to review plans for and hold hearings on the acquisition and development of land for public recreation and open space. 

All members must be Howard County residents.

Outdoor Lightning Alert System

 

By virtue of and pursuant to the provisions of Subtitle 4, Section 19.400, of the Howard County Code, notice is hereby given that the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board will conduct a Public Hearing to consider the Department of Recreation and Parks’ installation.

The hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at 7pm at the Department Headquarters located at 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, MD 21046-1677.  Beginning February 5th, 2020, you may view a description online of how the system works and the park locations, on this page, or you can call 410-313-4685 and ask that one be mailed to you.

Beginning, February 19, 2020, citizens can sign up online to speak at the hearing. From the same link, citizens will have the option to provide online testimony.

Citizens are reminded that internet testimony is considered public information and is subject to the Maryland Public Information Act. Citizens who do not wish to sign up online, will still be able to sign up in person at the public hearing beginning at 6:30 PM on the night of the hearing. 

An interpreter for any person who is hearing impaired will be on site.
