Howard County residents impacted by COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible for assistance to pay up to 18 months of past due rent and utility bills to prevent eviction. Homeowners may be eligible for mortgage assistance up to 18 months. Funding subject to availability.
Household income limits for rental and mortgage assistance programs vary.
Howard County residents may contact one of the participating providers below to complete an application for assistance to pay past due utility bills and rent payments to prevent eviction. Maximum assistance per household is 18 months of rent and utility expenses. Residents that previously received rental assistance are eligible to apply for additional assistance. Preliminary application criteria:
- Applicant must be a Howard County resident and provide proof of home address.
- Applicant must provide evidence of COVID related loss of income due to job loss, reduction in hours, medical illness or hardship during the time period of March 2020 to September 2021. Self-attestation of loss of income is permitted.
Maximum household income limits up to 80% of HUD area median income.
