Plan Review

The Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 10.15.03, requires that properly prepared plans be submitted and approved before a person constructs a food establishment, remodels or alters a food establishment, or converts or remodels an existing building for use as a food service facility. This process is called plan review, and involves review of the food service facility kitchen plans, equipment, menu, and food processes. Do not begin construction or purchase any equipment until plan review approval is granted by the Howard County Health Department.

The purpose of plan review is to ensure that food service facilities are built and operated according to current rules and regulations and to promote, preserve, and protect the health of all in Howard County.
