Comics Unleashed
Explore comic book design and learn basic drawing techniques, character design, page composition, layout, penciling and inking. Explore a variety of comic genres including superhero, Manga, Indie, and graphic novels. Please wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. You are encouraged to bring a sketchbook for class and at-home practice.

Painting for Teens
Explore different portrait styles and colorizing tips. Learn basic proportions of the head and spacing of features. Render features, textures and go from black and white to color. Review three different head views (frontal and both side views). Bring a sketch pad and 8x10 photos to use as source material. Drawing experience helpful, but not required.

Hip Hop Dance with Nysia Carter
During this high-energy class, focus on choreography, perfect your skills, and learn hip-hop, popping and break-dancing techniques. With an easyto follow breakdown of the basic moves, put various steps together to allow you to step onto any dance floor. Wear comfortable clothes. Jazz shoes or sneakers required.

Teen/Adult Yoga with Gina Bates Brown
This class is open to both teens and adults! Enroll as a teen/parent duo or register as an individual. Enjoy classic Hatha yoga postures and breathing techniques. Movements are practiced in a flowing style that integrates movement and breath that helps to lengthen, strengthen, and relax. Yoga mats/blocks provided but please bring your own mat if you have one.


Babysitting Fundamentals
This babysitter training course emphasizes child development, safety, security, first aid, understanding, patience, and other necessary skills. Class includes introduction to hands-only CPR and AED, but does not include CPR certification. Registrants must be at least 11 years old by the first class. Howard County Teen Clubs
Join a diverse group of teens to represent the youth of Howard County and promote programs and events at community centers across the county. Bring your creative ideas and help develop new activities for teens. Monthly meetings focus on developing leadership, social networking and marketing skills. Modeling School: Commercial Acting and Modeling
Join Sean Gibson, a former National Modeling Agency Director, National Modeling School Instructor and current scout for Model Citizens Models, LLC for this workshop designed to teach you the skills needed to enter the modeling industry. Train on the skills needed to successfully model in catalogues, cosmetics advertisements, television commercials, magazine advertisements, newspaper advertisements and billboards. Class also focuses on personality development, confidence, interviewing skills, auditioning, goalsetting, public speaking techniques, and more! Not planning to be a model? Guitar Studio with Olenka School of Music (OSM)
Bring your electric or acoustic guitar and get ready to play your favorite songs. Learn valuable warm-ups and finger exercises, scales and how to apply basic chords to any song, in any style of music. No previous music experience necessary. Students must bring their own guitar. $30 materials fee per student due at first class. 

Songwriting with Keyboarding
Using basics of keyboard playing, learn to generate and develop your
creative ideas into music patterns. Create your original melodies and
lyrics. Harmonize with chord basics and enjoy playing your own recorded soundtracks for friends and family.

Vocal Starz Camp at Olenka School of Music
Aspiring vocalists improve singing skills and ability to sing on pitch with
Solfege (do-re-mi), sight reading, vocal exercises & warm-ups, note value, ear training and harmonizing as part of an ensemble.

Theater Arts

Acting Up: Intro to Improv
This high-energy class is designed for young actors. Discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve your storytelling skills, and learn techniques to think quickly on your feet and to be more creative. Through coaching, warm-up exercises, creative performance games, and basic shortform scene-work, learn how to be more spontaneous, work with partners, and have fun in a creative atmosphere. The last class features a showcase sure to be full of laughs. No previous experience necessary.

Homeschool Musical Theatre: Disney’s Aladdin
Share a whole new world with DLC this spring! Learn and improve singing, dancing, and acting skills while working as part of a theatrical team. Please note: section includes students 1-5 grade. Class meets: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16. Dress rehearsals: 5/17, 5/20-22 from 12:30-4pm. Final performances: 5/23 & 24 at 1pm.

Special Effects with Club SciKidz
Are you a future movie director? Come learn the science behind Hollywood’s special effects. Activities demonstrate concepts related to light, sound, perception, illusion, and model building. Everyone creates (and takes home) a movie using techniques in Claymation and Stop Motion Animation. Lessons include plot development, story boarding, set building, filming, and sound effects. Come learn various special effects make-up techniques working with the same materials used by professional make-up artists. Simulate cuts, bruises, artificial blood, and old age.

C3 Cyber Club Game Design Spring Break
Aspiring game designers, learn how to utilize the industry-standard game design software Unreal® Editor, among other software, used to create games as Batman: Arkham Asylum® and Mass Effect 3®. Learn how to create exterior environments, and apply different procedures of modeling and texturing. Create your own outdoor terrain using advanced tools such as terrain sculpting, particle creation, and dynamic lighting. Learn how to import pre-set 3D models, control dynamic lighting, add interactive vehicles and power ups. Use the same tools video game developers are using today.
