April is an open enrollment month for the MIHU Homeownership Program. The Department will accept MIHU applications online and by mail ONLY. Due to county office closures, we cannot accept walk-ins or application drop-offs at this time. Beginning April 1 st through April 30th, potential applicants can visit the Open Enrollment page  for the application and FAQs. The MIHU homeownership or rental information sessions normally offered in April are CANCELLED; however, the presentations are available on that same webpage.  If you have questions about the application or the enrollment process, please call the office at (410) 313-6318 or send an email to and a staff member will respond to your inquiry. 


The Homebuyer Education Workshop scheduled for Saturday, April 4th is CANCELLED. If you are scheduled to settle on a home in April, please contact your mortgage lender to discuss online course options to receive a certificate prior to settlement. Fannie Mae also offers an online course that can be accessed here:  Be advised that there may be a charge associated with an online course.


Loans from the Settlement Downpayment Loan Program (SDLP) are still available to assist income-eligible homebuyers with downpayment and closing cost assistance for a home purchase.  Mortgage lenders must contact the SDLP Program Coordinator BEFORE sending a loan package for underwriting (410) 313-6328 or  Thank you for your cooperation.
