A BGE project to complete maintenance work on two utility poles located near 8116 Main Street in Ellicott City is scheduled to begin at midnight on Sunday, September 13th. As a result of the work, Main Street near Maryland Avenue will be closed from 1:00 to 6:00 a.m. on the 13th.

Howard County Receives Nearly $1 Million for Tree Planting Grant from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
The grant award will help the regional “Planting the Future” initiative by funding a full-time Restoration Coordinator for a 30-month period in Howard County and allow the County's Department of Recreation & Parks to ramp up its existing programs, such as its Stream ReLeaf and Turf to Trees programs.

Howard County Government Closings for Labor Day Holiday on September 7
Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 7. There will be no trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap pick-up on Labor Day. The county’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect.

County Executive Ball Announces $1 Million for “Rise to the Challenge” Innovation and Operational Grants for Non-Profits
Today, County Executive Calvin Ball announced $1 million for innovation and operational grants for Howard County non-profits. The Rise to the Challenge grants, which are funded through the CARES Act, will begin accepting applications September 1 through September 15, 2020. Grantees can apply for grant amounts ranging from $10,000 and up.
