Public Comment Schedule
The public comment period ended on April 7, 2023. The first phase of public comments on the current plan (the 2018 version) lasted until February 2023. Then, the final working draft was posted for further public comment on February 28, 2023, and the public comment period ended on April 7, 2023. Next, the plan will get final approval from the Joint Steering Committee and then go to the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM) for review followed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Finally, the Plan will go before the County Council for approval. After approval, the Plan will be posted for the public.
2024-2029 Howard County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan
This Plan seeks to reduce the County's human, social, environmental, and economic loss from future natural disasters. The Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (NHMP) seeks to develop practical planning solutions for the variety of hazards that pose a risk to Howard County.
