Howard County Government Closings for Indigenous Peoples’ Day on October 13th
Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, and 50+ centers will be closed on Monday, October 13th in observance of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday. There will be regular Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim, and food scrap collection on the 13th and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open.

Wood Creek Stream Stabilization Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to stabilize the stream banks through the Wood Creek stream near 5381 White Mane between MD 108 and Carroll Mill Road in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 20th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late March 2026.
