Howard County Government offices and more will be closed on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th for the Thanksgiving holiday. A Howard County construction project to stabilize a 24-inch exposed sewer interceptor across the Little Patuxent River near its union with the Lake Elkhorn Tributary and behind 6926 Allview Drive in Columbia, has begun. This 22-room facility will expand the county’s shelter capacity, while providing onsite services and benefits to help end homelessness.

Located at 9755 Patuxent Woods Drive, the building will be home to the County’s Office of Workforce Development, Department of Housing and Community Development, and a new childcare center operated by the Department of Recreation & Parks.

The legislation expands eligibility for the County’s senior tax credit and extends the availability of the tax credit from eight to 10 years for eligible Howard County property owners.

The plans call for a vibrant, mixed-use development featuring a variety of housing, retail and community spaces, as well as a 100,000+ square foot indoor athletic facility.
