Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today raised Howard County’s new flag outside the County’s George Howard Building in Ellicott City for the first time.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball yesterday was joined by the Department of Fire and Rescue Services Chief Louis Winston and Department of Recreation & Parks Director Nicholas Mooneyhan to present three people – one community member and two County employees, with Certificates of Recognition for their heroic efforts on June 14, 2025, that resulted in a woman being saved from a near drowning incident at Centennial Lake in Ellicott City.

The Howard County Department of Public Works Bureau of Engineering’s Transportation & Special Projects Division will hold a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, August 6th, to discuss a project to make improvements at the intersection of Hanover Road and Hi-Tech Drive in Hanover.

The Howard County Health Department recently launched a groundbreaking initiative—the Doula Partnership Program—aimed at improving maternal and infant health by bridging public health services with private-sector expertise.

Signing Memorandum of Understanding between the two will elevate the County’s 2023 Climate Forward Plan from a “whole-of-government” effort to a “whole-of-community” approach.

Howard County was also presented with this year’s NACO Best in Category Achievement Award for its Call Center Training.
