The Howard County Department of Public Works Bureau of Engineering’s Transportation & Special Projects Division will hold a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, August 6th, to discuss a project to make improvements at the intersection of Hanover Road and Hi-Tech Drive in Hanover. 

Howard County is providing the below update following the July 14th, 2025, storms, including the impact on Historic Ellicott City:

The Howard County Health Department recently launched a groundbreaking initiative—the Doula Partnership Program—aimed at improving maternal and infant health by bridging public health services with private-sector expertise.

Signing Memorandum of Understanding between the two will elevate the County’s 2023 Climate Forward Plan from a “whole-of-government” effort to a “whole-of-community” approach.

Howard County was also presented with this year’s NACO Best in Category Achievement Award for its Call Center Training.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today joined Enterprise Community Development (ECD) President Janine Lind to ceremoniously break ground on Enterprise’s newest affordable housing redevelopment projects, The Vision at Parkway and The Legacy at Cedar Lane. 

For the first time in Howard County history, the Community Action Council has earned the Early Head Start designation to provide care for children under the age of three. 

A Howard County construction project to rehabilitate a retaining wall along the westside of Beechwood Road, near 4671 Beechwood Road and next to County Bridge HO-156 in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, August 18th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early September 2025.

In response to high temperatures forecast by the National Weather Service, the Howard County Health Department has issued a heat alert for Howard County. The alert has been issued for Thursday, July 17 until 8pm.
