ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve the stormwater retention pond at Fall Chill Court and Autumn Rust Road in Ellicott City is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, December 16.

The project will include the installation of a new concrete riser and 48-inch RCP principal spillway pipe to replace the existing riser and principal spillway. The pond will also be regraded to increase pool depth, forebays and micropools will be installed, the emergency spillway will be reconfigured, a filter diaphragm will be constructed, the inflows will be stabilized, a plunge pool and riprap stabilization at the pond outfall will be constructed, and a permanent maintenance access path will be added. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late May 2020.

While the project is not expected to impact the flow of vehicular traffic, the sidewalk along Autumn Rust Road adjacent to the pond will be closed during the project. Signs will be posted to advise residents of the construction and sidewalk closure.

The project is partially funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
