ELLICOTT CITY – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball released the following statement regarding Governor Hogan’s historic inauguration.

“I was honored to be in Annapolis to witness Governor Hogan’s historic inauguration and listen to the course he is charting for our state. I hope that by working together, we can address the many challenges that continue to face our state and Howard County. I also want to congratulate, Howard County’s own, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford and wish him the best of luck.

Known throughout the nation as one of the most diverse, inclusive, and safest communities with an exemplary public education system, Howard County is one of Maryland’s best economic assets. I look forward to working with Governor Hogan and Lt. Governor Rutherford to attract new businesses to this great state while continuing prosperity for our current Marylanders.

As I begin my tenure as the new Howard County Executive, I will govern as a willing partner, compromise, and share responsibilities with Governor Hogan. My administration will be collaborating with our state government, our congressional delegation, and our fellow counties and cities throughout this state to roll up our sleeves to do what it is hard, make conscience-driven decisions, deliver real results for the people, and stand up for what really matters. This is what Marylanders should expect from all of us.

With innovation at the center, I echo the Governor’s message today.  I know these critical partnerships will move our county, region and state forward as we better prepare children and our most vulnerable and resilient residents for their future opportunities, continue historic investments in infrastructure, and promote skilled stewardship of the environment. From fighting opioid addiction to reducing traffic to creating the safest, cleanest and most technically
advanced neighborhoods in our nation, Howard County will be a proud part of a united Maryland.”
