A Howard County construction project to improve a storm drain along Rogers Avenue from Frederick Road to Rusty Rim in Ellicott City is scheduled to begin on or about today, September 30. Several storm drain inlets will be replaced with larger inlets and new inlets will be added to improve the efficiency of the existing storm drain system. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late December.

The Washington, DC-based restaurant, bookstore and event space will construct 10,700-square-foot, two-story location in the Merriweather District of Downtown Columbia. Busboys & Poets currently has seven locations across the Washington Metropolitan area and is a cultural hub for artists and activists, as well as a highly rated restaurant.

A Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks’ project to perform drainage repairs at both ends of the Oakland Mills pedestrian tunnel in Columbia, located under the roadway between Dasher Court and Downdale Place, is expected to begin on or about today, September 25.

A Howard County construction project to extend the lifespan of some of the County’s roads is underway. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late October.

On September 29th, the Howard County Office of Human Rights and Friends of Latin America will hold a “Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration” to commemorate the numerous contributions Hispanic/Latino Americans have made to enrich the fabric of the United States and Howard County. Additionally, there will be presentations and speakers highlighting resources for those who face discrimination.
