The Howard County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate hundreds of Unemployment Insurance fraud claims that have been received through our online reporting (Coplogic) system.

A suspect has been charged with four counts of assault in the incident.

As students prepare to return to school later this month, Howard County police are working to ensure that children, parents and teachers arrive safely. Through a continuing back-to-school program, known as H.A.S.T.E. A Howard County construction project to improve a stormwater management detention pond near 8825 Cardinal Forest Circle in Laurel, is expected to begin on or about Monday, August 30th. The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic; however, a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the work site will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the work. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late December.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is currently seeking applicants, specifically those over the age of 55, who are interested in serving on the County’s Commission on Aging.
