Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced his proposed Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Operating Budget includes over $5 million in funding for a myriad of programs and initiatives geared towards advancing the Howard County (HoCo) Climate Forward: Climate Action and Resiliency Plan and strengthening the County’s environmental stewardship.

In response to high temperatures forecast by the National Weather Service this week, the Howard County Health Department has issued a heat alert for Howard County. The alert has been issued for Monday, July 8 through Thursday, July 11, daily, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with high temperatures expected to be in the mid-to-high 90s.

Howard County Department of Public Works’ Transportation and Special Projects Division will hold a public meeting on Thursday, July 11th to discuss the third phase of a pedestrian and bicycle improvement project along Guilford Road in Jessup, between Carroll Heights Avenue and Oakland Mills Road. 

A Howard County capital project to replace the existing Pressure Reduction Valve near the intersection of Savage Guilford Road and Vollmerhausen Road in Savage, is expected to begin on or about Monday, July 15th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September 2024.
