The proposal fully funds Board of Education’s capital budget request for third consecutive year.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball proposes fully funding the Board of Education’s (BOE) capital funding request for Fiscal year 2025 (FY25). In his proposed FY25 Capital Improvement Program submitted to the Howard County Council, Ball proposed $75.7 million in combined funding from the State and local government. County funding will include $61.2 million, which is the second highest in 16 years, and anticipated State aid of $14.5 million.

Transformational $3 million investment will assist Shock Trauma in saving lives.

Angelica Pina-Ruiz, 48, and her 7-year-old daughter, Abril Aguirre-Pina, were last seen leaving their residence in the 6600 block of Washington Boulevard on foot around 9 a.m.

Ball also unveils the future of the Columbia Flier Building as a new community hub, The Source, where county youth will have the opportunity to be inspired and engaged

A Howard County construction project to replace the pedestrian bridge along the Bright Passage pathway in Columbia, is expected to begin on or about Monday, April 22nd. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late August. 

Ball also unveiled a multimillion investment to expand RTA’s public transportation, update its fleet and support the launch of FLASH bus rapid transit service

Ball’s proposed FY25 Operating Budget includes historic $1.14 billion in funding for HCPSS, exceeding the State-mandated Maintenance of Effort by $52 million
