Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today was joined by Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day, Department of Housing and Community Development Director Kelly Cimino, and other community leaders and advocates to announce the County’s new comprehensive Housing Opportunities Meant for Everyone, or HOME, package.

The new General Plan, dubbed HoCo By Design, advances a long-term strategic vision for how the County will develop and grow alongside evolving land use, conservation, economic, environmental, and social conditions over the next 20 years.

Howard County Department of Public Works’ Transportation and Special Projects Division will hold an open house event on Thursday, November 2nd, to present plans for a multi-modal travel improvement project along Ten Oaks Road from Brighton Dam Road to MD 108.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball was joined by U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes, Department of Community Resources and Services (DCRS) Director Jacqueline Scott and other local leaders to formally open the County’s first-ever Family Support Center (FSC). Located at 9790 Patuxent Woods Drive in Columbia (RTA Bus Route 503) and open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the FSC offers comprehensive, family centered, community-based preventive programs at no cost to parents, caregivers and their children ages birth to five.

During his State of the County speech, County Executive Ball noted that the state of the county is “strong” based on educational, economic, and health and wellness progress.
