Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced grant applications are now being accepted for the County’s Nonprofit and Faith-Based Security Grant Program. With $750,000 in grant funding available, this one-time grant program is available to eligible nonprofit organizations and faith-based organizations located within Howard County. Grant awards will range from $10,000 to $15,000, and grant applications are due by no later than 11:59 p.m., Friday, December 1st.

Missing person Andrew Mangold has been located unharmed.

Three County Health Officers have been appointed by Governor Wes Moore to serve on Maryland's new Commission on Public Health, including Howard County Health Officer Dr. Maura Rossman.

Missing Columbia man Earskine Cooper has been located unharmed. The Silver Alert has been canceled.

One person was killed in the collision.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Construction is set to occur next year

Students will be able to ride public transit for FREE through access from their devices .

Howard County Governments offices and more to be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Also, as there will be no curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Thanksgiving Day, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and Recreation and Parks Director Nick Mooneyhan today opened the completed sensory trail loop located at the Centennial Park North playground area. This world-class trail loop includes music features, sensory panels, and sensory play equipment near the all-access playground.

The pedestrian, a 17-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

To inspire more unity and goodwill this holiday season, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball launched the 2023 “HoCo Holiday Lights” map today for residents and visitors to locate the best and brightest residential and commercial holiday light displays in the county.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking applicants to serve on the Advisory Board on Consumer Protection, specifically a person representing a consumer interest group. The deadline to apply for this vacancy is Friday, December 15th. 

The Howard County Health Department announced today the introduction of a mobile application to streamline the CAREAPP user experience. CAREAPP makes it easy to find and connect with over 2,500 Howard County programs for food, health, housing, transportation, education, employment assistance, and more.

A Howard County construction project to construct 400 feet of new sewer main to 5667 Landing Road in Elkridge, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 11th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late October 2023.

Howard County is the first ground-based EMS Department in the State to launch the Whole Blood Program, providing potentially life-saving blood transfusions to critically injured patients.
