ELLICOTT CITY, MD – To inspire more unity and goodwill this holiday season, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball launched the 2023 “HoCo Holiday Lights” map today for residents and visitors to locate the best and brightest residential and commercial holiday light displays in the county. Since the map was created in 2021, nearly 150 decorators from Cooksville and Hanover to Woodstock and Laurel have registered to share their seasonal spirit.

“Many of us have family holiday traditions of walking or driving around our neighborhoods to enjoy the festive holiday lights and experience the joy they bring,” said Ball. “With this tool, residents and visitors know exactly who is participating. You can plan a festive evening with a route around Howard County to tour the bright lights and support all the residents and businesses who dedicate so much time and effort to their displays. I hope residents will flaunt their holiday spirit by registering and that the rest of us enjoy making quality memories with our family during the holidays.”

For light enthusiasts, the publicly driven website will grow throughout the holiday season as more residents and owners register their homes and businesses. The listing provides an address, photos, description of the display, display dates and hours, and any special instructions for that location. To map out a holiday lights drive through Howard County, residents and visitors can search for holiday displays by city, zip code or key word. Check back often for the latest information and for new listings.

Those wanting to share their display are encouraged to register as early as possible. To put your home, business, or community holiday lights display on the map, click here.  If you have any questions or issues registering your holiday display, please contact HoCoHolidayLights@howardcountymd.gov.
