A Howard County construction project to install speed humps, raised intersections, and a raised crosswalk on High Tor Hill from Phelps Luck Drive to Tamar Drive in Columbia, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, May 11th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late June 2026.

The County's Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Highways’ Traffic Engineering Division will hold a second community outreach open house on Tuesday, May 19th, to present proposed traffic calming plans to install speed humps, speed hump signs, overhead flashing beacon, and speed reduction markings along Old Washington Road in Elkridge.

Howard County Government offices, animal shelter, 50+ centers, and Alpha Ridge Landfill, as well as local Maryland courts in Howard County, will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25th and the the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect as there will be no Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim, or food scrap collection on the 25th.

The Task Force has been charged with finding a way to better support agricultural viability in eastern Howard County.

A Howard County construction project to stabilize a short stretch of stream slope and two existing storm drain outfalls experiencing damage from erosion near 8686 Wheatfield Way in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 1st. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-September 2026.

A Howard County construction project to replace approximately 550 feet of six-inch and eight-inch water main along Birchwood Way in Jessup, is expected to begin on or about Monday, June 1st. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early August 2026.
