$1 billion commitment for public schools; Projected local funding level for state Blueprint for Maryland’s Future exceeded by $8 million

Howard County’s Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Stormwater Management Division will hold a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, April 27th starting at 6:30 p.m.

Includes over $30 million to address systemic renovations and deferred maintenance

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined Police Chief Gregory Der today to receive a donation of 250 sensory kits from the Hussman Institute for Autism. The kits will assist officers and mobile crisis teams in situations involving people with autism or related disabilities.

Howard County has committed $2.1 million to expand a school-based mental health program to all 77 public schools and to subsidize mental health resources in the community for vulnerable youth.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball was joined today by state and local officials to announce a historic $25.7 million investment in state and county funding for parks improvements in Fiscal Year 2023. This brings the total investment in Howard County parks to $56.7 million since 2018, a 50 percent increase over the previous four-year period.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced the launch of a new, easy-to-understand report of the county’s financial condition, called the Popular Annual Financial Report, for Fiscal Year 2021. This modified report is shorter and simpler than the fully audited Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and is intended to provide the public with an overview of the county’s operations, programs and financial condition in an accessible and transparent format.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking student applicants interested in serving a year one-year term from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 on the Human Rights Commission. The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 22nd.

A Howard County stormwater management construction project at the County’s Bureau of Highways Mayfield facility located at 7551 Mayfield Avenue in Elkridge, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, May 9th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early September 2022.
