Howard County Executive Calvin Ball will host a Vaccine Telephone Town Hall on Monday, February 8th at 6:00 p.m. to answer questions and concerns from Howard County residents about vaccine distribution.

Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced Howard County would follow Governor Hogan’s directive to lift the current restaurant curfew on February 1st. Beginning Monday, bars and restaurants will be able to offer dine-in services after 10 p.m.

Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) was awarded a $9.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Treasury to provide rent and utility assistance. The funds can be used to pay up to nine months of past due rent or utilities for residents that suffered a COVID-related loss of income, reduction in hours, or medical illness. Residents that already received three or six months of rental assistance, as well as residents that are still unemployed, could be eligible for additional assistance from this grant. Household income limits apply.

Howard County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, February 9th starting at 7:00 p.m., to present plans for a stormwater pond retrofit project in the vicinity of 10000 Junction Drive in Savage.

Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and Visit Howard County kicked-off the Winter Restaurant Weeks & Craft Beverages at Walker’s Tap & Tavern. Restaurant Weeks runs from January 18-31, 2021, with curbside and delivery options.

Today, County Executive Calvin Ball signed emergency legislation providing $6.5 million in pandemic aid to support residents and businesses. Tuesday night, the Howard County Council unanimously voted to pass the bill, which was introduced by the County Executive in December 2020.

A Howard County construction project to repair and improve a storm water management pond adjacent to 7078 Calvert Drive in Elkridge, is expected to begin on or about Monday, February 8th. This project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic and weather permitting, is expected to be completed by late May 2021.

The bidding process has commenced for the H7 pond that is to be constructed within the northeast loop ramp of the US 29/US 40 interchange. Part of County Executive Ball's Ellicott City Safe & Sound plan, the pond will help mitigate flooding in historic Ellicott City by capturing stormwater runoff from the upper parts of the Hudson Branch Watershed and detaining it for longer periods of time.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball has announced a second vaccination clinic will be opening at the Athletics and Fitness Center at Howard Community College (on January 25th. The new clinic will be able to administer approximately 1,500 doses of vaccine every day, depending on vaccine supply from the State. Ball also noted that Howard County began vaccinating adults 75+ in Phase 1B as of today, January 19th.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball has announced that the County is actively monitoring for suspicious activity and preparing for any security issues throughout Inauguration week. There have been no threats in Howard County or towards the Howard County Government at this time.
