Howard County Arts Council Offers Accessible Studio Space at Long Reach Village Center
The Howard County Arts Council is seeking applications from artists to fill multiple artist studio spaces at Long Reach Village Center. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until studios are filled. Applicants will be evaluated based on their artistic discipline, artistic merit and commitment, as well as the appropriateness of their activities for the available space.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball Testifies in Support of Bay Restoration Fund
The legislation would alter the criteria for determining the use of funds in the Bay Restoration Fund for purposes including climate resiliency and flood control, including flood mitigation in Ellicott City. Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined Howard County General Hospital President Steve Snelgrove to officially open the hospital’s two-story, 50,000 square foot expansion on today. The project houses a new entrance and waiting area for the Emergency Department, replaces observation and psychiatry units, and cost approximately $45 million.

Excavation for New Cut Road Water Main Replacement to Begin
In order to accommodate two retaining walls necessary to stabilize and strengthen the area between New Cut Road and the New Cut tributary, the water main must be relocated. This project will require the use of explosives to clear the way for the installation of the new pipe into the existing bedrock to improve infrastructure resilience.

Howard County Following Governor’s Directive, Removing Restaurant Curfew on February 1st
Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced Howard County would follow Governor Hogan’s directive to lift the current restaurant curfew on February 1st. Beginning Monday, bars and restaurants will be able to offer dine-in services after 10 p.m.
