State of Maryland Lifts Standing Health Advisory Related to Cryptosporidium
Based on Baltimore City's successful completion of its tank projects, the Maryland Department of Health and Maryland Department of the Environment have lifted their standing precautionary advisory that recommended individuals with severely weakened immune systems should drink bottled, boiled or filtered water related to a previous one-time positive test for Cryptosporidium in September 2023.

Flood Mitigation Projects
The safety and vitality of Ellicott City are of paramount importance. Our robust flood mitigation strategy is a testament to our commitment to safeguard our historic town and its residents. Recognizing that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, we’ve adopted a multi-pronged approach that addresses flood challenges from various angles. This ensures more comprehensive protection from severe weather events.
Flood Safety Initiatives
In May 2019, County Executive Ball announced the Safe and Sound flood mitigation plan with the goal of significantly reducing flood waters on Main Street. Under this Plan, the County also initiated multiple flood safety measures in Historic Ellicott City to better protect residents and businesses during severe weather events.
