Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purchase and redevelopment of the Hurst property, located at 9770 and 9790 Washington Boulevard in Laurel.

The Howard County Department of Public Works’ Transportation and Special Projects Division and the Office of Transportation will hold a community outreach meeting on Monday, September 23rd, to discuss the new extension of the US 29 Flash Bus Rapid Transit from Montgomery County to Howard County.

A Howard County capital project to replace approximately 1,100 linear feet of existing water main along Red Barn Way between Mayfield Avenue and Mayfield Woods Middle School at 7950 Red Barn Way in Elkridge, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 16th

A Howard County construction project to install a retaining wall along Woodbine Morgan Road next to South Branch Patapsco River in Woodbine, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 23rd. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late December 2024.

The Howard County Department of Public Works will hold a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, October 2nd, to discuss a project to replace the existing Furnace Avenue bridge over Deep Run, that connects Howard County to Anne Arundel County. Currently in 30 percent design phase, the proposed project will include the replacement of the existing steel beam bridge with a new concrete bridge, as well as the installation of new traffic barriers and improvements to the roadway approach within the project limits. The project is scheduled to begin in fall 2027 and weather permitting, is expected to be completed by fall 2028. 

The Howard County Department of Public Works will hold a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, September 25th to discuss plans to install a new sidewalk along Roosevelt Boulevard (Capital Project

K-5036) and improve the MD 103/US 1 intersection (Capital Project J-4212) in Elkridge.

A Howard County project to make sewer system improvements in the vicinity of the Old Frederick Road Pump Station in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 16th. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by late November 2024.
