Fishing

All Anglers age sixteen (16) and older must have a current  fishing license for all programs and events. For more information on fishing in Maryland, check out the Maryland Fishing Guide from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources!

All programs are catch & release, and detailed information will be emailed to class participants within a week of the program start date (camp information is mailed approximately two weeks prior to the start of camp).

Youth

Intro to Fishing
5-13 yrs  /  2 classes starting Sep 19  / $35
New young anglers, come learn to rig a pole, cast, identify fish, tie knots and much more!  No experience necessary - all equipment and bait is provided.  This class is a great way to make friends and swap fish stories while learning a new lifelong outdoor skill.

Let's Go Fishing! (Parent/Child)
5-12 yrs  /  2 classes, start dates below  / $35
This fishing class for beginners focuses on rigging a pole, casting, fish identification, knot tying and much more!  No experience necessary - all equipment and bait is provided.  This class is a great way to spend quality family time together while learning a new lifelong skill.  Fee is for one parent and one child.

No school today?Then come spend the day outdoors on land and water! Make new friends while trying your hand at archery, fishing, kayaking, and field games. Adult Fishing Clinic

NEW! Freshwater Fishing Trip
18 yrs+ / Oct 4  / $40
Intermediate and experienced anglers, come take a trip to Zett's Tristate Fish Farm & Hatchery!  Eight freshwater fishing ponds stocked with an assortment of freshwater fish. Catch and release, or each angler may keep up to six fish - bring your own cooler. Rod, tackle and some natural bait provided - additional bait available for purchase on-site.  Bring your lunch - feel free to bring your own rod & tackle.

Fish Centennial Lake at night! All ages and anglers 14 yrs+ can enter the Nite Bite Tournament Series for a chance to win cash prizes over all the Nite Bite dates.  Boaters welcome.  2017 Nite Bite dates:  4/01, 4/28, 5/26, 6/24, 7/08, 8/11, 9/15, 10/14 
      Spring Fishing Tournament
A fun recreation tournament at Centennial Lake on the first Saturday in May. Boaters welcome.

Fishing Camp
7-9 yrs / 4 days
Enjoy the sport of fishing while learning why and when fish bite. Discover when to use natural and artificial bait, and prepare to go after the biggest fish out there! On Friday, conclude with a field trip to a secret fishing hole. Bring your rod and artificial lures; natural bait is provided. Bring a snack and beverage (no nut products).

Ultimate Fishing Tour
12-15 yrs / 4 days
Calling all intermediate and advanced anglers! Enjoy the sport of freshwater fishing at lakes across Maryland. Go fishing in and around Howard County on the first day. The real excitement begins on Tuesday with fishing and two nights of camping at Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland. Bring your rod and artificial lures; natural bait is provided. Fee includes most meals, transportation (bus or van), tent accommodations, supervision and activities.

Archery & Fishing Camp
9-12 yrs / 4 days
Try your hand at two lifelong outdoor activities in this beginner camp!  Discover and practice new skills in casting, fish identification and knot tying.  Learn the essentials of target archery such as range safety, equipment use and technique from USArchery certified instructors.  Camp includes trips to some special fishing spots where the fish are definitely biting!  Bring a non-perishable lunch and beverage each day (no nut products). Schedule is subject to change; camp will be held rain or shine. Fee includes van or bus transportation, supervision, equipment and activities.

Padding & Fishing Camp
11-13 yrs / 4 days
Paddle your way through a fun and exciting introduction to two lifelong outdoor activities.  Discover and practice skills in casting, knot tying and a variety of fishing techniques.  Earn a flatwater basics paddling certificate from an ACA certified instructor, then combine those skills as you fish Centennial Lake by canoe! No experience necessary. Bring a non-perishable lunch (no nut products) and beverage. Camp is held rain or shine; schedule is subject to change. Fee includes van or bus transportation, supervision, equipment and activities.

Many Fishing CLASSES meet at the NEW Fishing Shed in Centennial Park!  The Fishing Shed is located in Centennial Park South in the parking lot adjacent to the maintenance shop; once in the park off Rt 108, make the first right and continue past the boat ramp and Pavilions E, F & G.  Park in the last lot on the left before the employee parking area.  All participants should check their email in the week prior to the start of the class - a program letter with directions and details will be emailed along with any pertinent forms.
