Howard County’s Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Environmental Services returns for the second year of its “Harvest Heap” compost collection program which helps reduce the number of pumpkins that end up as landfill waste each fall. It is estimated that Americans toss out more than one billion pounds of pumpkin with their trash each year.
Join us for a special composting demonstration held by the Howard County Master Gardeners at Long Reach Village Center Parking Lot, 8775 Cloudleap Ct in Columbia on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00am - 2:00pm . Residents who attend can drop off their pumpkins and receive a FREE backyard compost bin.
