Did you know that July is NRPA’s Park and Recreation Month? Join Howard County Recreation & Parks as we celebrate with FREE movie/game nights, yoga, food trucks, concerts and more. There is something for everyone!

Recreation & Parks Month Events:

July 7:  Movie Night at Gary J. Arthur Community Center — 7-9:30pm

Bring your picnic dinner, flashlight and blanket for an under-the-stars movie night. Enjoy the movie Sandlot with friends and family while immersing in the outdoor environment surrounding you. Before the movie, discover the nature around us as you join us for a guided hike at Western Regional Park. The hike starts at 5 pm out front of the Community Center. If there is inclement weather, we'll enjoy the movie in the Gary J Arthur Community Center's multi-purpose rooms.

July 14:  Food Trucks and Backyard Games at Blandair Park — 6-8:30pm

Join us for backyard games and tasty food, complimented by the evening sky. Friends and families can enjoy games such as pony hop, corn hole, and Jenga, as well as delicious food from two, great food trucks (Mardi Gras Tyme and Mailks Ice Cream Mobile). Inclement Weather Line updated by 3 PM on that day: 410-313-4451, option 2.

July 21:  Yoga in the Park at Blandair Park North — 6-8:30pm

Bring your yoga mat for an evening of yoga at Blandair Park North. Bring yourself or come with family; it is an equally fun experience solo or with a group. July 28: Art in the Park at North Laurel Community Center — 6-8:30pm

Join us for fine and performing arts at North Laurel Community Center. Pinot’s Palette will facilitate a painting experience that is enjoyable for all. Or, learn a new dance move and get some great exercise with our line dance instructor. July 4: Howard County's July 4th Fireworks

Howard County and the Columbia Association will co-host the annual July 4th fireworks at the Lakefront at Columbia, beginning around 9:20pm on July 4. The 20-minute fireworks show will start around 9:20 p.m. at Lake Kittamaqundi in Columbia. There will be two live music bands on the Lakefront stage, as well as food trucks and vendors. July 13: Bach To Rock - Music School Showcase Free Rock Concert

Join Bach To Rock for a FREE band showcase at Centennial Park, July 13 at 7pm! Bach To Rock is a well-known music school for students of all ages. The scenic lake is the perfect setting for a concert you won't forget. Don't miss out on this chance to see an amazing performance from some of Maryland's best student talent! Concert is at the Centennial Park Amphitheatre. 

July 16: Worthington Dog Park 20th Anniversary  (NEW DATE DUE TO RAIN ON JULY 9)

Join us for the Worthington Dog Park 20th anniversary celebration for an ON-LEASH day! Event will be held in the big dog area of the park. Give your dog (and yourself) a great day of play and socialization. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. No retractable leashes. All dogs must have someone 18 or over with them. July 20: Risa Binder - Free Country/Pop Concert

What's summer without a little country music? Join us at Centennial Park for a FREE concert by the multi-talented Risa Binder on July 20 at 7pm. Risa graduated from Howard High School and the University of Maryland (College Park) and now resides in Nashville but comes to Maryland often. She was nominated for an Emmy for song writing and has opened for national country acts. She performed at Wine in the Woods several years ago and we are excited to have her return to Howard County. Concert is at the Centennial Park Amphitheatre. 

July 27: Damon Foreman & Blue Funk - Free Funk/Blues/Rock Concert

Mark your calendars for this awesome FREE concert at Centennial Park, performed by Howard County native Damon Foreman & Blue Funk on July 27 at 7pm. Damon has performed in past summer concerts and at Wine in the Woods and we are excited to have him back! Damon also runs an award-winning music school in Glenwood. Don't miss out on this amazing Funk/Blues/Rock performance! Concert is at the Centennial Park Amphitheatre.
