ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians accessing Burleigh Manor Middle School and Centennial High School in Ellicott City is underway. Americans with Disabilities Act compliant sidewalk ramps and a crosswalk will be installed on Old Annapolis Road just east of Waterford Drive and Whitworth Way. A pedestrian refuge island will also be added to the middle of the existing roadway. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed within five workdays.

Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed as lane shifts along Old Annapolis Road can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, a 75-foot portion of sidewalk adjacent to 10089 Whitworth Way will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the project.
