Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Mount Airy Tuesday evening.
At approximately 6:16 p.m. Dec. 13, a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound in the 1000 block of Ridge Road (Route 27) when it struck an adult male crossing the road from the northbound shoulder.
The pedestrian, Alex Fernandez, of Mount Airy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the Chevy remained at the scene and was not injured.
Ridge Road was closed for approximately five hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
