The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred overnight following an attempted traffic stop.
At approximately 1:52 a.m., an officer in an unmarked HCPD police vehicle attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2010 Honda Accord on Route 32 in the area of Broken Land Parkway. The vehicle fled from the attempted traffic stop and immediately crashed on the eastbound ramp to Broken Land, where the vehicle overturned.
The driver and sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. The ramp remains closed.
Per Maryland law, the IID has assumed the investigation into the fatal collision and will release any follow-up information. All media inquiries should be directed to the IID.
