Howard County police have charged a paraeducator at Guilford Park High School in Jessup with a third-degree sexual offense following an encounter with a student off school grounds on Nov. 12.
Detectives allege that William Nelson II, 26, of Elkridge, a special education paraeducator, met the 15-year-old male victim through a dating app and engaged in sexual intercourse in Nelson’s vehicle. The victim reported the encounter to school staff, who contacted police. Nelson was arrested at the school on Nov. 13.
Preliminarily, detectives do not believe the two interacted at or outside of Guilford Park prior to meeting through the dating app. The investigation remains ongoing.
Nelson is being held at the Howard County Detention Center. According to the Howard County Public School System, it placed Nelson on administrative leave immediately upon hearing of the allegation.
Detectives are asking anyone with information, including any other children who may have been victimized by Nelson (pictured in booking photo below), to contact police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.
