UPDATE (Dec. 19 8:30 p.m.): The victim, 25-year-old Tysean Berry, was pronounced dead at the hospital on Friday afternoon. The suspect, 22-year-old Christian Kinuthia of Windsor Mill, is now charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on no bond.

Howard County police have arrested a suspect in a non-fatal shooting overnight in Jessup in which one person was seriously injured. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is being charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, police responded to the 8700 block of Washington Boulevard for a report of a shooting and located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and is listed in critical condition.
Through preliminary investigation, police learned that the victim, a 25-year-old male, got into a physical altercation in the McDonald’s parking lot with a group of people that included the suspect. Police believe that during the altercation, the suspect, 22-year-old Christian Kinuthia of Windsor Mill, shot the victim. No one else was injured. Kinuthia remained at the scene.
