Overview
The Department of Planning and Zoning is updating the Route 1 Design Manual to reflect how the Corridor has changed over the past 15 years. This effort will take a fresh look at the design goals for the Corridor and make recommendations for improvements based on various newly adopted and updated County plans and policies.
As land use along the road has evolved, so has its character, with a diverse mix of uses, housing, and transportation needs emerging. The County’s newly adopted General Plan (HoCo By Design), along with other important plans like the Route 1 Corridor Plan, outline a clear vision for the area. The updated manual will help ensure that this vision is reflected in design of future development and other Corridor improvements.
Design Manual Update Process
Background
The Manual provides direction for preparing subdivision and site development plans for properties in the Route 1 Corridor. The Manual’s intent is to enhance the image and function of Route 1 Corridor through clearly articulated site design and building design requirements and recommendations.
