We have missed you and are excited to begin reopening our community centers. During the closure we have been actively preparing to open and have adjusted our operations and amenities. We have trained staff, added signage, temporarily closed high touch areas, and cleaned and moved equipment and furniture to promote physical distancing.
Monthly payments on memberships will restart on Monday, July 6. The missed time from the closure will be added onto your membership; this will happen automatically. If you are uncomfortable returning at this time, you may elect to freeze or cancel your membership starting Wednesday, July 1 by clicking here.
Guests that do not meet the expectations will be asked to leave and may forfeit their ability to reserve future appointments until the center is permitted to operate at 100% capacity.

The centers’ gymnasium and exercise room will be open starting Monday, July 6, 2020. Hours will be limited to evenings and weekends as the facility will be used for camps and childcare during the weekdays. Hours, safety guidelines, sign-ups, and the number of people able to access each facility will be restricted. Guidelines on each use will be posted by July 6.
The center will close to observe the following holidays: New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday & Friday) and Christmas Day.
In addition, the center will close at 5pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The North Laurel Community Center is one of Howard County's newest community centers, built to serve the southeastern portion of the county. The facility is shared by the Departments of Recreation & Parks, Health, and Police and the Office on Aging. Features include a fitness room, commercial kitchen, double gymnasium, pre-school classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, senior activity room, and so much more.

Inclement Weather Policy:
In the event of inclement weather, the center will adhere to the following policy:
If Howard County schools experience a one-hour delay, the Center will strive to open at 9:30am.
If Howard County schools experience a two-hour delay, the Center will strive to open at 10:30am.
If Howard County schools are closed, the Center will strive to open at 10:30am.

Drop In programs are subject to change seasonally.
Children 15 years and under require adult supervision in the facility. Children 12-15 years old require adult supervision in the facility, except during after-school TeenZone program (Center Membership required). For info and to confirm time, call 410-313-0390. All patrons entering the facility must pay the daily admission or have a valid membership, unless they are a participant in a Howard County Recreation & Parks program taking place at the center.

Rack'em up and come play some pool!
Learn and practice your pickleball skills. This sport is fun and combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong.
Come shoot hoops, play billiards, ping pong and games. Or just come and hang out!
*This program will begin in September. Bring your little ones indoors to play with push toys, hula hoops, tunnels and other gross motor skill activities. Through interactive play children develop motor skills and social skills.

Center Memberships (for all ages)
The Center Membership gives you access to three community centers including North Laurel, Gary J. Arthur, and Roger Carter Community Center. These memberships provide patrons access to the gymnasium and walking track only.
*Must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old at all times; exceptions made during Teen Zone.
Fit4U Memberships (for ages 3-49)
*Permitted use of pool, gymnasium and walking track. Must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old at all times; exceptions made during Teen Zone. Adults must have a valid membership or pay the daily drop-in rate.
**Members ages 13-15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old and must first complete a mandatory orientation for fitness room use; supervision exceptions made during Teen Zone.
Go50+ Memberships (for ages 50+)
The Go50+ membership packages are designed to enhance the quality of life for the 50+ adult population that lives, works and plays in Howard County. Howard County Recreation & Parks and Office on Aging partnered together to provide packages that are designed to give individuals access to meet their health and wellness needs.
*Access to game rooms, gymnasiums, walking tracks, and wellness programs at Gary J. Arthur and N. Laurel Community Centers and all Howard County 50+ Centers.
**Access to all 50+ Center package benefits and fitness and dance/aerobics rooms at all three community centers and 50+ centers.
***Access to all 50+ Center and Fitness package benefits and access to the Roger Carter pool during open swim hours.
North Laurel Community Center offers room rentals, party packages and a pavilion option. Rental areas can be used for parties, special events, business meetings, and other activities. Each 30-minute session is customized to fit your individual needs and abilities. Private training sessions are one participant to one trainer; semi-private sessions are up to three participants to one trainer. Sessions are non-transferrable. Registration for sessions is first-come, first-served. All sessions must be scheduled at the time of registration.

Marvin Evans is certified through the National Council Certified Personal Trainer (NCCPT) with CPR/First Aid certifications. He specializes in weight loss, circuit style group training and speed/agility training.

It is recommended that patrons call the Center Updates/Drop-in Line prior to arriving.
Status line (Center updates, drop-in times, inclement weather): 410-313-4452 (when prompted dial option 5)
Winter Weather: If Howard County schools open one hour late, the center will strive to open at 9:30 AM; if two hours late, at 10:30 AM.
If schools are closed due to inclement weather, every attempt will be made to open the center by 10:30 AM. If Snow Emergency is in effect the Center will be closed. Once it has been lifted the center will strive to open as soon as possible. Please call the inclement weather number listed above to confirm the center's status when schools are closed.
Inclement Weather Policy for Rentals: If the North Laurel Community Center closes due to inclement weather (i.e. snow, ice), you will be completely refunded or we will make every effort to reschedule your event. However, if the North Laurel Community Center is open, but you decide not to show for your scheduled event it will be treated as a rental cancellation and we will retain the rental fee and security deposit.
