Center Information
The Bain 50+ Center, transformed through a major capital renovation, continues to be a vibrant hub for active aging. Located in West Columbia’s Harpers Choice community, it serves all of Howard County with lifelong learning opportunities, creative arts programming, exercise classes, special events, and cultural activities. Its state-of-the-art fitness center, spacious dance studio, and arts and technology classroom provide diverse opportunities for engagement and enrichment.

For those who prefer to maintain their optimal health and wellness without leaving the comfort of home, the Howard County Office on Aging & Independence will continue to offer virtual programs and virtual fitness pass classes in addition to in-person options to engage, inspire and motivate you. Our GO50+ membership packages are designed to enhance the quality of life for the 50+ adult population that lives, works, and plays in Howard County. Live longer, healthier lives… join today! The basic membership is free and includes access to the Gary J. Arthur and North Laurel Community Centers and all Howard County 50+ Centers. The GO50+ Fitness membership adds use of the fitness rooms at 50+ centers, plus access to the Roger Carter Recreation Center. The GO50+ Pool membership includes all GO50+ benefits plus use of the Roger Carter Center pool.

The congregate meal program is resuming at most centers and will be offered one to two days per week depending on the site. Howard County residents aged 60 and over and their spouses of any age are eligible to participate in this program and are asked to make a voluntary, confidential donation.
Congregate meals allow older adults to enjoy a well-balanced meal in a group setting, offering the opportunity for social engagement. All of the Howard County 50+ Centers serve meals that have been planned and approved by a registered dietitian.

Overview
The Bain 50+ Center offers room rentals for parties, business meetings, special events, and more. Applicants must be 21 or older. Requests are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to Howard County Government programs.
