ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve drainage along portions of Centennial Lane and Century Drive in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 12th. Work will take place along northbound Centennial Lane from 4345 Centennial Lane to the roadway’s intersection with Century Drive and along eastbound Century Drive from the intersection to 10137 Century Drive. This project includes the installation of new storm drain culverts and manholes, curb, and paving and resurfacing in the project area. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November 2026.
Flagging operations will be in place and signs will be posted to alert motorists and residents of the construction work and temporary shoulder and lane closures during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when schools are in session and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when schools are not in session.
Additionally, signs will also be posted to alert pedestrians and residents of the corresponding temporary sidewalk closures along Centennial Lane in the project area during applicable phases of construction. In addition to this sidewalk closure, approximately 100 feet of a shared-use pathway adjacent to northbound Centennial Lane and just north its intersection with Century Drive, may also be temporarily closed while work is occurring in that area.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
